Winter may have arrived a little late this year, but Lake Tahoe’s XC ski and snowshoe trails are now covered with snow, with even more on the way. The Lake Tahoe region has hundreds of miles of summer hiking and mountain bike trails that are transformed in winter to a XC skiing and snowshoeing wonderland. There are many groomed trails and off-track trails for all fitness and skill levels to enjoy serene views, fresh air and get that heart pumping.
Where is all the snow? So far this season, Mother Nature hasn’t been too generous with the snow in the Lake Tahoe area. Yes, bummer, I know… but there's always something to do around Tahoe when the weather is warm and the snow is skimpy.
I have been skiing Squaw Valley for nearly twenty years now. This is the mountain I call “home” and where I spend most of my skiing days. Some days are better than others due to the weather factor… as it's something we can't always control. What we can control, though, is WHAT we ski at Squaw.
