Preserving The Beauty of Lake Tahoe: The Tahoe Fund's Impactful Projects & Initiatives

The Tahoe Fund is a non-profit organization established in 2010 to “enhance the extraordinary environment of the Lake Tahoe Basin by building broad support and funding for environmental improvement projects.” Their key initiatives are restoring watersheds, innovative transportation solutions, wildlife habitat conservation, and beach restoration/public access enhancement. We are proud to support the Tahoe Fund and want to share the amazing projects they are currently working on and fundraising for.

Current Projects:
1) East Shore Trail Expansion:

The Tahoe Fund is currently working to expand the East Shore Trail all the way from Sand Harbor to Spooner Summit with additional parking planned at the Secret Harbor parking lot (120 new spots) and a brand new parking lot across the street from Spooner Lake State Park (250 new spots). The goal is to remove the current shoulder parking and replace it with safe off-highway parking and transit. They have committed $2 million in funds to the project. 2)Echo Lakes Trail Restoration:

The Tahoe Fund is currently fundraising for $50,000 with the Tahoe Rim Trail Association to tackle major maintenance work on the 19 miles of the trail from Echo Lake to Lake Aloha. Maintenance includes widening the trail, rock work for safe hiking, and adding drainage to decrease erosion. Every donation given will be doubled until they reach their goal. 3)Emerald Bay Invasive Plants Removal:

In early September, divers removed aquatic invasive plants in Emerald Bay. This helped protect the region's ecosystem and water quality. Funding from the Lake Tahoe Restoration Act and Tahoe Fund made it possible to quickly address the situation. Read more about this project here.
